Nickerson Football completed their Jamboree with multiple different schools this Saturday. How did that end up going?
"I mean, not as we were expecting, needed to be better than it went." Said Rylan Morell, the starting running-back on the Varsity Team.
The Nickerson Football Team had been getting ready and prepared for their first game against Conway Springs, which is happening this Friday. It wasn't just Conway however, preparedness for the Football Jamboree was of upmost importance as well, and that was reflected in the on-field performance this Saturday, even if it didn't end up going the way they planned.
When asking Rylan what adjustments they'd have to make after Conway, considering any possibilities, head coach Parker Bruce interjected saying:
"We don't look past our opponent, we only focus on who we're playing Friday night"
While the Jamboree may not have gone as planned for the Varsity Team, the Junior Varsity team has a chance to step up to the plate and compete just as, if not potentially even better than the Varsity team at any given time!
During Spirit Night, the Junior Varsity team had a chance to show Nickerson what they had been practicing for, and by the looks of it, it went pretty well!
"They could have something, they did better than we expected" Said Rylan Morell.
This isn't to say that the Varsity squad has less potential than the Junior Varsity team, however, its important to also look at who could possibly make an impact on the next great Nickerson Team.
No football team is perfect, there may be some hiccups. The most important thing is to make sure to get back at it one-hundred-and-ten percent next time!
